Error, cannot compute

I always have tried to find a logical answer, but I can't. You have to know the area where you are really well in order to travel. However, in LoC, when she first makes a gateway, Egwene just walks in and, "oh let me make a gateway right her in this room that I certainly don't know well." Ahhhh? I wonder if this a mistake that RJ missed. But he would probably just chalk it up to an editing mistake like he did for some of his answers in interviews. I can imagine how my interview would go with him:
Me: We are here with Robert Jordan. Mr. Jordan, thank you for taking the time to answers some questions.
RJ: RAFO...I mean, how are you?
Me: I fine, thank you. Now, onto the ques-
RJ: RAFO
Me: I'm sorry?
RJ: Oh, sorry...please continue.
Me:*looks at RJ sideways* Right...So, it has been established that in order to travel, you must know the area where you are really well. So how come Egwene just walked into the room, aksed Moghedien how to make a gateway, and did it right there in the room she didn't know well?
RJ: RAFO
Me: RAFO? RAFO? You're telling me that I am going to read and find out why Egwene did something she wasn't supposed to be able to do? Don't tell me it was an editing mistake else I'll channel your head into your belly and feed you your own feet for breakfast!
RJ: *sweating profusely* Well..I..it was...editing..I mean..my wife..ah,no..
Me: Aha! Your wife, huh? Has more input into the books than just editing, eh?
RJ: I-I..don't know..what you are talking...about..
Me: Yeah, so tell me how much of the books do you write?
RJ: *sweat pouring off of him* I..write,ah,...most of..no I mean...all of the ah..
Me: Here I was just thinking you were a feminist. So that third face in Rand's head, would it happen to look like your wife? She rides you pretty hard, huh? Trying to tell us something?
RJ: My...wife..she..ah..she is just..ah..editor...No one is going to read this interview, are they?
Me: *evil smile spreads across face* RAFO
